Judge Wiseman was appointed to the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas, General Division in October 2007 by Ohio Governor Ted Strickland. Prior to serving on the bench, Judge Wiseman had a private law practice in Dayton, Ohio with one of Dayton’s oldest law firms, Coolidge Wall Co., LPA. Her law practice focused on complex commercial litigation, including intellectual property, technology development, software development and licensing, and similar areas. As a practicing litigator for over 19 years, Judge Wiseman handled a wide variety of legal matters in state and federal courts nationwide. As a litigator, Judge Wiseman was named in 2007 as one of Dayton’s best lawyers and she was AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest peer ranking of skill and ethics available to lawyers.
Judge Wiseman received her B.S. degree from Ball State University in 1984 and in 1988 her law degree, with honors, from the University of Arkansas, where she served as the Executive Editor of the U.A.L.R. Law Journal and was twice published by the Law Journal on employment law issues.
Judge Wiseman is an adjunct professor of trial practice and evidence at the University of Dayton School of Law and an adjunct instructor at Sinclair Community College. She is a frequent speaker at legal seminars. Judge Wiseman is extensively involved in the Miami Valley community. She served an elected term on the Dayton City Commission from 1998 to 2002. She is on the Board of several organizations promoting access to justice and pro bono representation of the poor.
On the Common Pleas Court, Judge Wiseman chairs the Court’s education committee and she serves on the Court’s criminal practice, security, and technology committees. She also serves on the Ohio Judicial Conference’s committees on Judicial Ethics and Professionalism and Jury Service.
